1. Never practise Hyperventilation and Breath Holds in or near Water – or anywhere else where fainting can be dangerous
Never practise hyperventilation and breath holds in or near water – or anywhere else where fainting can be dangerous. Why? Shallow-water blackouts can be fatal. When you hold your breath for a longer time after hyperventilation, your blood oxygen saturation may gradually drop to such a low level that you become unconscious.
You're safe with me. I do controlled breath holds in my breathwork: I won't let you hold your breath as long as you can after hyperventilation. Get in touch if you have any questions.
2. Contraindications
My breathwork sessions are not recommended if you are pregnant or suffering from serious health conditions (in particular epilepsy, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, glaucoma, kidney failure, heart failure or stroke, significant recent physical injuries or surgery, anxiety or panic disorder). When in doubt, please get approval from your physician.
My Clarity Breathwork sessions are more gentle. They are not recommended if you are pregnant (in particular in the first trimester) – unless you have gotten approval from your physician.
3. No Medical Advice
I am not a medical practitioner. No advice and activity presented, demonstrated or advised are in any way intended as a substitute for a medical consultation, and should not replace or interfere with any guidance offered by a medical professional.
